Natures Golden Hour
Natures Golden Hour

End of August days are still summer hot, but the early mornings are autumn cool and August evening twilights are golden. The light gives the dry grass and leaves a golden hue and accents the leftover green of the mid-summer. The light is softer around the edges, sunsets a little earlier. This is the transition of the seasons. Soon the summers bold, joyful and vibrant colors that hold heat and a pure energy, will all have turned to rich, earthy tones, deep red, burnt sienna and golden glows. The produce will start to match the palette of seasonal colors. Lettuce becomes kale, berries become beets. Hearty root vegetables and winter squash, pomegranates and apples. We will soon begin to harvest sweet little Satsumas and cinnamon flecked Amagaki persimmons for the autumnal feast. We are so fortunate to live in a county that is always growing what our body needs. Lots of vitamins and nutrients to keep us healthy through the season. Our farmers have carefully planned the fall crops months ago for what will grow best. At the farmstand, you will see all of the beautiful produce that took many seeds, many anxious days of watching them take root and grow. Let us honor our farmers by taking home a cornucopia of the season's best.

Early Bird Farms and Mill
We have small community centric business in every corner of our area. Early Bird Farms and Mill is based in Grass Valley, just up Hwy 49. Using traditional, small batch milling techniques, Early Bird offers flour of the best quality. Organic, stone milled grains grown with regenerative practices.
The farmstand carries an extensive selection of flours made for both the home baker and professional pastry chef. Pasta, pizza, pastries and that fresh baked bread coming right out of the oven. They also have this incredible pancake and waffle mix. Stop by and pick some up, then make something delicious!
You may have noticed we have some new green things in the refrigerator. Natural Trading Co, a certified organic neighboring farm, is supplying the farmstand with pea shoots, sunflower greens and wheat grass.
